Popsicles Tomorrow and Opportunities for our Swimmers!
Happy Father's Day to all of the dads out there!
REMINDER: We will have popsicles tomorrow to celebrate Coach Katie's last day and wish her well as she takes off for Greece!
See below for two opportunities for our swimmers:
1. Sandy Springs State Swim Team: See below and reach out to Coach Katie White ([email protected]) if you would like to participate.
The City of Sandy Springs would like to invite you to participate on the Sandy
Springs State Swim Team. This is an all-star team that will represent the
city of Sandy Springs in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA)
State Swim Meet at the Cherokee Aquatic Center on July 22nd and July 23rd,
2022.
To be eligible to swim on the Sandy Springs (SS) State Team, you must either be
a resident of Sandy Springs or live in Fulton County and swim on a summer team
that is located in Sandy Springs. Additionally, in order to qualify for
the SS State team, you must swim in the GA Tech ASA Championship Meet (June 29
through July 2) and place in the top 3 for your event of those Sandy Springs
swimmers who wish to participate on the State Team. This does not mean
you have to place first, second, or third overall, just of the participating
Sandy Springs swimmers. So, for example, if you are a 7 year old boy who
places 50th overall but in the top three of the Sandy Springs swimmers who swim
the 25 breaststroke event, then you can join the SS State Team. This may
seem confusing, so if you have any questions about whether or not you qualify,
please ask because you very likely will and we would love to have you on our
team! To increase your chances, we encourage you to enter 2 individual events and 1 event as an exhibition at the ASA meet.
To indicate that you want to participate on the SS State Team, please have your
coach place a SP5 in front of your first name and preferred name in Swimtopia
for your entries in the ASA Championship Meet at GA Tech. This is how we
will know that you would like to participate on our team.
The cost for the swimmers will be $115 which will cover entry fees for the
meet, t-shirts, caps, and coaches. Our team will be co-coached once again
this year by Ben Miller and Luke Miller.
Practices will begin on Tuesday, July 5th at Spalding Woods Pool located at 900
Spalding Drive, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. The practice schedule is not
finalized, but most likely, the 7-10 year olds will practice from 8:30am-9:30am
and the 11 and up will practice from 9:30am - 10:30am. Our practices will
be on Mondays through Fridays, but we may add some additional evening practices
depending on pool and swimmer availability.
This was a lot of information, but what I need from you first is for you to
email me or call me and let me know that you are interested, so that I can add
you to my distribution list. Also, feel free to share this
information with any other Sandy Springs swimmers who may be interested in the
Sandy Springs State Team. This is a super fun event and gives your
swimmers an additional 3 weeks of swim team. It is a great way to keep
the summer fun going!
Please don't hesitate to email me with any questions or if you need any additional
information.

2. Water Polo:
Hi,
I am the head coach at Mark Trail for summer league swimming, but I also coach a water polo program out of Sandy Springs and Marietta. We started as a North Springs HS team, but now are not affiliated with 1 specific school as we have students from many different places. I was hoping you could pass this blurb onto your teams along with the attached presentation.
Interested in a new sport? Come try water polo! We practice in Sandy Springs in July and then at Mountain View Aquatic Center August-September. All high school and middle school kids are welcome, and you can come try out a practice in July before committing. Check out the info powerpoint attached and please email Coach Ferris @ [email protected] for more info!
Thanks,
Julie Ferris
